Replacement parts for Newarke Point facade

Newarke Point is a student hall of residence made up of two large accommodation blocks. Situated in the heart of De Montfort University campus in Leicester, the halls are home to nearly 650 students.

The building owners decided to replace parts of the external facade following a fire safety assessment. Although the recommendations from the assessment weren’t mandatory, the owners decided to refurbish the exterior as part of a duty of care to their student tenants.

We were appointed to replace the old HPL (High Pressure Laminate) panels with new Rockpanel fire resistant sustainable cladding. The original exterior of the building included sections of red brick and stone and the decision was taken to leave these original features of the facade in place. We therefore had to fit the new grey and white coloured panels around these sections.

As this was a like for like replacement, the completed exterior of the building remains true to the original design. Both accommodation blocks remained open and occupied for the duration of the project.
