A modern new image for Manchester student accommodation

Piccadilly Point is home to almost 600 students right in the heart of Manchester’s lively city centre.

A programme of fire safety work provided building owners, a leading student accommodation provider, with the opportunity to give the building a modern makeover.

The existing HPL panels on the 10- to 19-storey building near Piccadilly Station were due to be replaced as part of a programme of fire safety improvements. We worked with the client’s architect and facade consultant to design the replacement cladding. The colour scheme of the original panels had been various shades of brown and dark grey.

The client chose to transform the building with a new colour palette of contemporary pastel colours including silver, green and light blue for the replacement panels. The new design was chosen to be more in keeping with other buildings in the surrounding area and to give the building a new lease of life.

Piccadilly Point remained open, operating at 95% capacity for the duration of the project. The building now has a modern new look and, crucially, has improved fire safety for the students living there.
