Our people are the most important asset we have. They are what makes Topek unique. Together, they provide the skills, expertise and customer experience that make our business what it is today. Here are just some of the people you are likely to come across when working with us.
DOUGLAS BRYCE
Conductor
Leading from the front, Douglas has overall responsibility for the operational performance of Topek. With a clear view of what is required to deliver excellence every time, he makes sure all sections of the company work in tune with each other to exceed the expectations of the target audience. Douglas expects - and gets - the best from his team. Although steeped in Topek history, he also has a strong vision for the future of the business. Douglas’s focus on the future extends to developing others. He enjoys nothing more than providing opportunities and encouragement to his staff to ensure they succeed. His drive to succeed can be seen on the golf course too, where Douglas can be found teeing off at first light.

CHRIS MCCRORY
Composer
With a considered, measured approach, it is Chris who composes the Topek proposal for every potential project. It's his role to harmonise the different elements of the company offering to create the best solution for clients. The thinker of the management team, Chris has been with Topek since leaving school. Now an owner of the company, he's enjoying the 'perfect career' at Topek, starting as a trainee before progressing quickly up the company ladder. Happiest when faced with a challenge that requires creative thinking, Chris is driven to see Topek succeed by delivering excellence in everything the company does.

SCOTT GIBB
The Editor
A diligent approach and attention to detail make Scott the perfect member of the team to review each contract we are awarded. Focussed on the profitability of every piece of work we undertake, he is responsible for internal cost control and the overall reporting for each project. Helpful and approachable, he is a believer in the importance of developing strong relationships and is well known amongst his peers. With an amazing memory and a love of sport, he's the perfect pub quiz partner. Plus, ask him anything about the projects he has worked on in eight years with Topek and he'll know the answer straightaway.


DAVID O'CONNELL
Operations Director

Conductor of client’s health and safety and delivery of the projects. Overseeing the day to day running of Topek’s ongoing ventures. With over 30 years’ experience in senior positions within Roofing and Cladding also construction companies, David brings an abundance of knowledge to the team. If you ever need protection David is also your man, as he has been travelling the world for 38 years with his Aikido club!



STEVEN NICHOLSON
Senior QS
Steven is our senior QS with ten years as a quantity surveyor. Having worked various commercial QS roles managing departments, Steven comes to Topek with a wealth of knowledge ensuring successful paths to project completion. In his spare time, he is very much an outdoors person enjoying walks with his two dogs, going camping and fishing!



IAIN TRAVERS
Plant & Procurement Administrator

Ultimately Iain is the buyer of products and services required for each project. What needs to go where, from tractors to forklifts or materials Iain ensures these elements arrive on time to allow a successful and timely completion of works. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, collecting whiskey and boxing.



Anne Papureaunu
Curator
With nearly 30 years in the business, Anne is one of Topek's longest serving employees. In charge of finance, she has compiled the company accounts for many years and has a fantastic knowledge of the history and evolution of the business. A mother hen figure, Anne is a calm and experienced influence in the management team, but also provides light relief with her own alternative brand of humour! With a nurturing nature, she makes sure members of staff are looked after. And she brings her passion for the outdoors into the office by taking care of all our plants too.


Marie McCallion
Assistant Curator
Another long-term member of the Topek family, Marie is the right-hand woman to Anne in the finance team. A stickler for detail and with a love of figures, Marie carries out her role with consistency and accuracy. Compiling the weekly payroll and cataloguing and processing most of our financial transactions means that she is deadline driven and an accomplished multitasker. Proud of her long service with Topek, she enjoys the buzz in the office and providing the behind the scenes support to her colleagues that makes sure all of our projects progress smoothly.


Kerry Gordon
Props Manager
For Kerry, the thing that gives her greatest satisfaction is viewing the end result of everyone's hard work. A former construction manager, she knows that each venue Topek creates or transforms will remain a feature of the landscape of towns and cities across the country for many years to come. And Kerry takes great pride in the role she has played in helping to create these landmarks. It's this, plus her passion for great design that drives her to source the best supplies and equipment for every production. Her love of design also extends to fashion - and her many, many pairs of shoes.


Neil Broni
Location Manager
Often the first person a client will meet, Neil is the 'face' of Topek. Always immaculately dressed, Neil can be found on location, scoping out the requirements of each job to make sure Topek deliver exactly what is required. Talent-spotted after starting his career as a trainee in the estimating team, Neil now enjoys a high profile role both within the company and in our industry. His extensive experience means he can respond to client requirements and make decisions quickly. And his word is his bond, so when he makes a promise to a client, he makes sure it's kept.


Stefan Ninu
Producer
Stefan is one of our newest producers and the ultimate definition of a self-starter. Originally employed as a labourer, his organisational skills and ability to learn quickly were recognised. Now a member of the project management team, if you ask him how he reached his current position, his answer is that people trust that 'he knows what he is doing'. With an eye for detail, a strong belief in hard work and a burning desire to keep improving, only the best is good enough for Stefan. A talented linguist, he has worked across Europe and can speak Romanian and Italian as well as English.


Kieran Harkins
Assistant Editor
Kieran had already applied to study Quantity Surveying at university when he spotted the opportunity to work with Topek. He jumped at the chance to combine study for a degree with employment and practical training. After going through a rigorous selection process, Kieran now combines day release study with his role with our surveying team. A committed team player, Kieran is also a talented footballer who has had the chance to play at some of the sport's biggest venues. His proudest moment so far is playing in the final of the Scottish Schools Cup, which was held Hampden Park, Scotland's National Stadium.


Steven McCrory
Art Director
For Steven, the best projects to work on are those that others prefer to avoid. With a knack for seeing solutions where others only see problems, his innovative designs can be found on some of the most iconic buildings in the country. A mean negotiator with an eye for quality, Steven combines his role as a designer with responsibility for project procurement. Keen to go the extra mile for clients, Steven's reputation for devising creative solutions mean his input is often sought by project architects and engineers.


Stephen Duffy
Graphic Artist
Creativity is in Stephen's blood. No ordinary draughtsman, he's also a talented musician who has played alongside some of the most of famous names in pop music today. Not one to name drop, he keeps his musical connections quiet. However, Stephen is more than happy to discuss the wide variety of designs he has delivered for Topek clients. With a strong focus on delivering an excellent service to every client, he is also heavily involved in the procurement for each project he works on. Don't be fooled by the quiet demeanour - he has high standards and drives a hard bargain.


Karen Findlay
Executive Producer
The beating heart of Head Office, Karen is responsible for the overall quality and compliance of Topek's productions. She makes sure each project delivers to customer specifications while meeting all regulatory and auditing requirements. Committed to her Topek family, it is also Karen's role to make sure the crew have the right skills and training to carry out their work on-site. A relative newbie to the company, Karen had a successful career in the Civil Service before joining Topek and she has many entertaining stories from her time with the Ministry of Justice.


Shane Young
Casting Director
Shane plays a central role in the production of Topek projects. A straight-talking former soldier, his down-to-earth approach ensures he is trusted by both Topek and customers alike. Having previously worked 'on the tools', he knows exactly what is required and who has the skills needed to get the job done. Happy to take the decisions that count, Shane enjoys the responsibility of his role. Well known in the industry, Shane works hard to ensure Topek are invited back to work with customers time and again. His strong relationship skills are possibly helped by the fact that he knows a thing or two about fine wines too.


Joe Ballantyne
The Editor
Underneath his laid-back exterior, Joe's exceptional organisational skills and ability to stay calm under pressure mean that he has a leading role in many of our largest, most complex projects. A joiner by trade, Joe has the skills and experience to ensure that the right resources and the right people are in place to create the best possible end result for each client. With his orderly way of doing things, he takes ownership of every project and is client focused in everything that he does. He makes sure the job gets done to the highest standard without any unnecessary drama.


Craig Owens
Producer
A former award-winning star of the installation team, Craig now project manages some of our many productions. Coming from a family of roofers, it's perhaps no surprise that Craig won the prestigious Scottish Government Constructions Skills Specialist award and was a finalist in the UK SkillBuild 2013 competition in the roofing category. Now, Craig applies his hands-on knowledge, attention to detail and focus on quality to co-ordinate every stage of each project he is in charge of. Passionate about inspiring future generations, he also mentors roofing apprentices at the local National Construction College.


Garri Duncan
Producer
Garri joined Topek as a school leaver, turning down a place at university in favour of the opportunity to start his career in the construction industry. This bold decision has paid dividends as he has gained invaluable experience working across the business and became our youngest ever Producer. His role now involves operational site management, with responsibility for on-site quality control, health and safety and client relationships. A confident communicator with a strong desire to progress, 'young Garri' has earned the trust and respect of his colleagues and clients alike.


Iain Wilson
Producer
An accomplished rock climber, Iain first came to Topek's attention through his experience with Rope Access Trade Association (RATA) rope systems. His unusual career path started in social work before he was persuaded to take the leap into construction. Iain then learned his trade on the tools before joining our project management team. Involved in every stage of each production, Iain brings the planning and risk management skills he needs as a climber to his role with Topek. With an ability to adapt and think quickly under pressure, Iain brings a calm approach to any situation.
