Developing the next Topek generation
This September, we welcomed the latest intake of school leavers to join Topek as trainees. Gabby McGowan, Rieni Muldoon and Kieran Harkins joined us over the summer as part of a recruitment drive involving local schools. With many firms struggling to recruit skilled workers, our ongoing commitment to training school leavers has paid dividends, providing us with some of the most talented members of our team.
Our youngest recruit, Gabby, started in administration before joining our estimating team. She is also studying for her Highers at a local college. Rieni joins the design team and will be busy combining her role with studying for a part-time Building Surveying degree at Glasgow Caledonian University and an AutoCAD course at Glasgow Clyde College. Kieran joins us as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor and has just started a degree in Quantity Surveying at Glasgow Caledonian University.
One of the cornerstones of Topek's success is our ability to retain and develop employees. Two of our owners, Chris McCrory and Douglas Bryce, also started with Topek as school leavers and progressed through the ranks to where they are today. Gabby, Rieni and Kieran will also benefit from Topek's drive to increase the number of staff with academic qualifications to underpin hands-on experience of the business.
